See the Explorer 5000 Plus in action.

A real demo of the unit running through a power outage — the lights stay on, the fridge keeps cold, the Wi-Fi keeps you connected.

Versus a gas generator

Save up to $11,800/year

Per Jackery's published analysis, customers can save up to $11,800 a year versus running a gas generator through equivalent outage hours — fuel, oil changes, tune-ups, and replacement costs. The Explorer 5000 Plus pays for itself the first time the lights go out.

Source

Source: Jackery published savings analysis. Real-world savings vary based on local fuel prices, generator runtime, maintenance frequency, and home electrical load. As an authorized Jackery dealer, Swag House Store reports this figure as published; we do not warrant the underlying calculation. Most customers save a smaller annual figure that still pays back the unit within a few outage cycles.

The real competition

Why this beats a gas generator.

Buyers ask why the 5000 Plus costs more than a $500 portable generator. The answer is everything you don't pay for: noise, fumes, fuel, maintenance, and the safety risk of running combustion equipment near your home.

Why it matters

This isn't a small emergency battery.

It's positioned like a premium home backup platform. That means more power, more flexibility, and less compromise when you actually need it most.

01
Serious output, not entry-level output

7200W places it in a class for buyers who need stronger backup performance — central AC, well pumps, EV trickle charging, and full-size kitchens.

02
Scales with your system

The expandable design lets you start at 5040Wh and grow to 60kWh — no need to overbuy on day one or replace the station when needs grow.

03
Solar and transfer-switch paths are mapped

1200W solar input. Optional Smart Transfer Switch hardwires up to 12 home circuits. The full home-backup direction is already engineered.

04
LiFePO4 chemistry — built to last

4,000+ cycles to 70% capacity. Roughly 10 years of daily use. Far safer thermal profile than older NMC packs.

Survived our 4-day winter outage without a hiccup

Boulder lost power after a snowstorm and we ran the fridge, internet, lamps, and my CPAP for 4 days on the base unit plus our two solar panels. The transfer switch installation was straightforward — Swag House helped me size it before I bought. Already ordered the second battery pack.

Finally a station that actually runs the RV AC

We had a Jackery 1000 before and it couldn't run our 13.5K BTU RV AC. The 5000 Plus runs it for hours. TT-30 outlet means no adapter dance. Charges back up in about 2 hours when we hit a campground. Worth every dollar.

Heavy but worth it — wish it had wheels built in

132 pounds is no joke. The handles are solid but if you have to move it between rooms regularly you'll want a hand truck. Power output and runtime are everything Jackery promised. Knocked one star only because of the weight, not the product.

PSPS season is no longer scary

California public safety power shutoffs were destroying our work-from-home setup. The UPS switchover is so fast we don't even notice the cut. Have run our home office (computers, monitors, internet, lights) for 14+ hours twice already. Quiet. Cool. No fumes. Worth every dollar over a generator.

Frequently asked

The questions buyers actually ask.

Everything we get asked on the phone, in email, and in chat — answered up front so you don't have to leave the page to find them.

What's the warranty and how do I file a claim?

The Explorer 5000 Plus carries a 5-year manufacturer warranty from Jackery covering defects in materials and workmanship. As an authorized Jackery dealer, Swag House Store registers your warranty automatically when your order ships.

If you ever need to file a claim, contact us at 833-399-3837 or info@swaghouse.net and we'll handle the back-and-forth with Jackery for you. You don't have to chase the manufacturer alone.

How loud is it during operation?

At idle and light loads, the unit is essentially silent — under 30 dB. Internal fans only ramp up under heavy continuous loads (above ~3000W) or while fast-charging at full 3000W AC input. At those levels you'll hear the fan, but it's still significantly quieter than even a quiet inverter generator.

For comparison: a refrigerator hum is around 40 dB. A normal conversation is around 60 dB. The Explorer never approaches generator-level noise (75+ dB).

Will it run my whole house?

Not all of it at once — and no portable power station that size does. But it will run your essentials: refrigerator, internet/router, lights, phone charging, CPAP, TV, and a few outlets indefinitely during an outage.

If you want hardwired panel-level integration, add the Smart Transfer Switch (in the bundle picker above). That lets you wire up to 12 specific home circuits to the Explorer, so when the grid goes down, those circuits keep running automatically through the battery.

How long does it take to charge from empty?

Three options:

AC wall outlet: ~2 hours (0–100%) at 3000W input.
Solar (2× 500W panels): ~5 hours under good sun conditions.
12V car port: ~25 hours while driving — slow, but useful for road trips.

You can combine AC and solar simultaneously for even faster charging in emergency scenarios.

Does it work in cold weather?

Yes, with limits. The Explorer 5000 Plus discharges down to 14°F (−10°C) and charges down to 32°F (0°C). Below those temperatures the LiFePO4 cells protect themselves by pausing operations.

For winter outages, store the unit indoors or in a garage that stays above freezing. Once warmed up, it operates normally even when outdoor temperatures are below zero.

Can I take it on a plane?

No. At 5040Wh it vastly exceeds the FAA limit for lithium batteries on commercial aircraft (100Wh per battery, 160Wh with airline approval). The Explorer 5000 Plus is intended for ground transportation only.

How long will the battery last over time?

The LiFePO4 cells are rated for 4,000+ charge cycles to 70% capacity. That's roughly 10 years of daily charge/discharge use, or 20+ years of weekly use.

LiFePO4 also has a much safer thermal profile than older NMC chemistry — lower fire risk and longer calendar life. After 10 years you'll still have a battery with ~70% of original capacity, which is still plenty of usable storage.

Can I expand the system later?

Yes — that's one of the best reasons to buy the Plus. You can add up to 5 expansion battery packs over time, scaling from 5040Wh to 60kWh. You can also add more solar later (up to 1200W input).

Buy the size that fits your needs today. If your power needs grow, the system grows with you instead of forcing a full replacement.

Does it have an app?

Yes. The free Jackery app (iOS and Android) connects via WiFi 2.4GHz or Bluetooth 5.0. You can monitor battery level, AC/DC output, charging status, and switch outputs on/off remotely.

Firmware updates also come through the app, so the unit gets better over time.

How does the UPS function work?

When you plug the Explorer into a wall outlet and then plug your equipment into the Explorer's AC outlets, it acts as an uninterruptible power supply. If the grid goes down, the battery takes over in under 20 milliseconds — fast enough that computers, network gear, and CPAP machines don't reboot.

This is one of the most underrated features for work-from-home buyers and anyone with sensitive medical devices.

What's your shipping and return policy?

Shipping: Free FedEx Freight to the lower 48. Orders placed before noon CT typically ship next business day. Delivery is usually 3–6 business days depending on your location.

Returns: 30-day return window on unopened, unused units in original packaging. Buyer pays return freight (typically $150–$250 for a unit this size). Defective units or shipping damage are replaced at no cost — just call us within 48 hours of delivery.

Call us. 833-399-3837. Mon–Fri 9–6 CT. Or email info@swaghouse.net.
