Is the R1 a pedal-assist e-bike or a full electric motorcycle?
The EUNORAU x RERODE R1 is an off-road performance electric dirt bike — closer to a light electric motorcycle than a pedal-assist e-bike. It has pedals (standard on Eunorau's platform) but with 4000W rated (8000W peak) and 55 mph top speed, it's engineered for trail riding, closed-course competition, and off-road adventure. It does not fall under US Class 1/2/3 pedal-assist e-bike regulations because its power output and top speed exceed all three classes.
Is it street legal?
No — the R1 is an off-road / closed-course performance vehicle. Its 4000W/8000W peak motor and 55 mph top speed exceed the federal definition of a pedal-assist e-bike (which caps at 750W and 28 mph for Class 3). It's intended for private property, motocross tracks, off-road trails, and approved off-road areas. US state laws vary on what counts as a motorcycle vs. an out-of-class e-bike, so always check your local jurisdiction before riding.
What's the real-world range?
Eunorau rates the R1 at up to 75 miles per charge. Real-world range depends heavily on terrain, rider weight, riding style, and mode: aggressive Sports-mode riding with full throttle on trails typically delivers 35-50 miles, while Eco mode on smoother terrain gets closer to 65-75 miles. The Regen function in Sports mode recovers energy during coasting and braking, helping extend range on downhill and stop-and-go sections.
What do I need to ride safely?
Required: DOT-rated or full-face motorcycle helmet (a bicycle helmet is not sufficient for 55 mph), closed-face or impact-resistant goggles, riding gloves, over-the-ankle boots, and long pants/riding jersey. Body armor (chest protector, knee/elbow pads) is strongly recommended for trail riding. At this power level, this is motorcycle-grade riding gear — not bicycle-grade.
How tall does a rider need to be?
Eunorau rates the R1 for riders 5'2" to 6'4". The step-over frame geometry and full suspension accommodate a wide range of riders. For riders under 5'2" or new to dirt bikes, we recommend sitting on one before purchasing — seat height is an important safety factor at this power level.
How does the regenerative braking work?
When Sports mode is engaged, releasing the throttle triggers regenerative braking — the motor acts as a generator, slowing the bike while recapturing kinetic energy back into the battery. It's not a replacement for the hydraulic brakes but extends range noticeably on technical trail riding with frequent deceleration. Eco mode prioritizes efficiency and disables Regen to preserve smooth throttle feel.
What assembly does it need?
The R1 ships approximately 85% pre-assembled. Final assembly typically takes 60-90 minutes for most owners and includes: front wheel installation, handlebar alignment, pedal attachment, mirror and light setup (if equipped), tire pressure check, and battery installation. Eunorau's printed manual walks through each step with clear diagrams. A torque wrench is helpful but not required — the included tool kit covers everything.
What's the warranty and how do I claim it?
Eunorau offers a 24-month limited warranty from purchase date covering manufacturing defects on frame, motor, battery, and electrical components — one of the longer warranties in the off-road e-bike category. Swag House is an authorized Eunorau reseller. If you have a warranty issue, contact Eunorau's US service team directly (contact info ships with the bike) and they'll process the claim. Registration with Eunorau within 30 days of delivery is required to activate the full warranty.
Can I pay monthly with Affirm?
Yes. At $3,999 (Silver/Black) or $4,099 (Maple), the R1 works out to approximately $172-$177/month over 24 months with Affirm's standard financing, if you qualify at checkout. Look for the Affirm monthly payment display under the price — it shows your approved rate before you commit.
